UNINET has introduced the IColor 400 LED toner-based digital label press, a compact printing system designed for label converters, print service providers and brand owners seeking greater flexibility in short- to mid-run label production. The IColor 400 enables users to produce labels on demand, reducing reliance on outsourced printing, minimum order quantities and inventories of preprinted labels.

The system also supports rapid artwork changes, personalization and prototyping. Featuring a five-station CMYKW toner configuration, the press produces full-color and white labels in a single pass. Its White Underprint technology and spot-white capabilities allow users to print on clear, dark, colored and metallic labelstocks. “The IColor 400 gives businesses the flexibility to produce the labels they need, when they need them,” says Joe Dovi of UNINET.

“It helps users shorten turnaround times, reduce inventory waste, and expand their in-house label capabilities.” The desktop press offers a 5.12″ print width, integrated rewinder, automatic registration and roll-to-roll or roll-to-cut operation. Printing at speeds of up to 30 feet per minute, the system can produce approximately 2,000 labels in 20 minutes, depending on label size and substrate.

Its toner-based technology eliminates the routine maintenance associated with liquid-ink printing systems, while allowing files to be printed directly from standard graphics applications without specialized RIP software. The IColor 400 supports a range of substrates, including PET, vinyl, BOPP, synthetic films, metallic materials and glossy, matte and textured labelstocks.

Applications include food and beverage, cosmetics, private-label products, chemicals and other consumer and industrial goods. When paired with approved GHS-certified media, the press can also produce chemical and drum labels compliant with GHS BS5609 requirements. For additional converting capabilities, the IColor 400 can be paired with UNINET’s optional LF200 Digital Label Finishing System, which provides lamination, diecutting, matrix removal, slitting and rewinding.
